The new RotaCare Richmond Free Medical Clinic at Brighter Beginnings has announced that it will officially open it’s doors to new patients on March 19, 2013. The grand opening celebration for the new clinic was held on February 21st at the Richmond Civic Center. In addition to food, wine, entertainment, and a speakers’ program, tours of the new clinic were offered and the evening ended with a joyful ribbon cutting ceremony. Over 200 supporters from the community came out to join the festivities, including Richmond Mayor, Gayle McLaughlin, Dr. William Walker, Health Officer for Contra Costa County, Dr. Cynthia Carmichael, Family Medicine Practitioner for Kaiser Permanente, Bob Rhodes, President of RotaCare Bay Area, Rotary members from nine Bay Area rotary clubs, and representatives from Congressman George Miller’s office, State Senator Mark DeSaulnier’s office, State Assemblywoman Nancy Skinner’s office, and Contra Costa County Supervisor John Goia’s office.
A huge thank you goes out to Kaiser Permanente East Bay for their generous sponsorship of the event and to all the volunteers from the Bay Area Rotary clubs and the Brighter Beginnings volunteer community who donated their time to make the event a success.
