Volunteer at Brighter Beginnings

Brighter Beginnings is a non-profit organization serving Alameda and Contra Costa Counties in Northern California. The agency provides programs and services for at-risk pregnant and parenting women, fathers, their children, and their family circles.

There are two ways to volunteer at Brighter Beginnings.  (1) Through Friends of Brighter Beginnings, an auxiliary organization with members throughout the East Bay, and (2) as a Volunteer at a Brighter Beginnings center to fulfill specific needs at the agency for providing education, referrals, and resources for targeted client groups.   Brighter Beginnings also offers learning and training opportunities for a variety of academic and professional settings for some volunteers.

About Friends of Brighter Beginnings

About Volunteering at Brighter Beginnings
Volunteers typically provide a specific skill for a need within a Brighter Beginnings program.  All volunteers serve without compensation beyond reimbursement of direct expenses, at the direction of, and on behalf of Brighter Beginnings. They are not considered employees of the organization, but because they often represent the Brighter Beginnings to the public, they must adhere to the same standards of professionalism, courtesy, appropriateness, promptness, reliability, and confidentiality we expect of our employees.
Each volunteer has a supervisor who is responsible for the direct management of the volunteer. Volunteers receive an evaluation at the end of each placement; providing an opportunity for both the volunteer and the agency to examine and strengthen the relationship.

To learn more about volunteer opportunities that relate to your specific skills, please email volunteers@brighter-beginnings.org or contact Rita Casey, Human Resources Director by phone at 510.903.7534 or by email at rcasey@brighter-beginnings.org
